We found some more backstreets in Gamla Stan, always more surprises.
Sergels Torg is one of the central squares in Stockholm, to the left of this picture is the Kulturhuset where we found the abandoned chess club.

We went back to Drottningholm Slott after the recent snowfalls. It makes such a difference to see them covered in snow.

The lake at Drottningholm was frozen over, but we weren't brave enough to try walking across it.

We went to the architecture museum on Skeppsholmen, the boat was making a good subject for photographers.

We went for a weekend in Prague, staying in Residence Retezova, not far from the Old Town Square.
We followed the trail of the Velvet Revolution, though it wasn't as exciting as I was hoping, with a small memorial hidden inside a covered walkway marking the flashpoint (if a non-violent revolution can have a flashpoint?).
Cubism is a big thing in Prague, indeed, there can't be many cities that boast a cubist lamppost, such as the one designed by Vlastislav Hofman.
The old Radio Free Europe headquarters are not far from the south end of Wenceclas Square.
Charles Bridge was apparently the extent of the Swedish empire back in the 1640s. It is one of the oldest bridges, now open only to pedestrian traffic. It offers wonderful views of the city and castle.
Prague Castle, sitting on the hill over the city, is a warren of palaces and old streets.
There are many little roads and alleyways in Prague Castle.
Looking out from Prague Castle across the city.
Some things we found at Prague Castle
Inside the walls of Prague Castle is the St Vitus Cathedral
The golden lane is a street formed when the castle complex was extended, lying between the old and new walls. Its a weird little alleyway with some old shops along one side, giving the feel of somewhere from a fictionaly history that you never quite believe is real.
The old steps between the castle and the town.
We found a little restaurant next to the Franz Kafka museum looking out up to Charles Bridge.
